Jennifer Wrigley - Fiddle
Laurence Wilson - Piano
Jennifer Wrigley (fiddle) is from the Orkney Islands and is highly respected as a world class traditional fiddle player and global ambassador for Orkney’s folk music. She is internationally recognised as one of the leading fiddle players and composers to come out of Scotland in recent years. In 1996 she won the UK’s premier accolade for new folk talent, the BBC Young Tradition Award, which kickstarted a highly successful recording and touring career. Performing with celebrated duo ‘The Wrigley Sisters’ and six-piece progressive Scottish folk band ‘Seelyhoo’, over the years she has recorded over a dozen albums, undertaken three world tours and visited 47 countries, including 15 trans-Atlantic trips. Jennifer has recently relocated to Malvern, Worcestershire to be with her partner, fellow Orcadian, musician and kindred spirit, Laurence Wilson.
Laurence, strongly influenced by his rich Orcadian musical lineage, provides a distinctive, energetic and rhythmic piano style which delivers a toe-tapping accompaniment to Jennifer’s high quality tunesmithery.
Together this confident duo seek to enthral and enchant you with their unique, rigorous and exciting blend of Orcadian/Scots/Irish/Scandinavian and North American influenced Reels, Jigs, Strathspeys and Airs, featuring many of their own compositions and arrangements.
