Northwick Baroque grew out of a chance meeting between Jane Warren and Kate and Michael Oakley, shortly after they all relocated from the South of England in 2018. We wanted to explore Baroque chamber repertoire for voice with continuo and obbligato recorders. The group’s name began as a flag of convenience – Jane’s house, where we rehearse, is in Northwick – but seems to have stuck. After an enforced hiatus during the pandemic, we began performing in the summer of 2022. We have since performed in Malvern, Great Witley, Worcester, Ross-on-Wye, Gloucester and Sudeley Castle.  Last year we welcomed Kenneth Roles (bass) to join Kate Oakley on the vocal side, and for this season we have also drafted in a third recorder player, Georgina Hamilton, making our current lineup the most extensive so far. The programme, Heaven and Earth, features music mainly from the seventeenth century by composers such as Schutz, Cima, Handel and Purcell. Please follow us on www.facebook.com/northwickearlymusic
