Samantha Atkinson is a Saxophonist at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. She is part of Joe Broughton’s Conservatoire Folk ensemble, and as part of the Aza Saxophone Quartet won the Sylvia Cleaver chamber prize and the Andrew Downes Prize 2023. She has a passion for folk and classical music, winning the Young Creative Awards in Nottingham for her Celtic inspired composition “Ocean of Gold” for soprano saxophone and Hang drum in 2021.

Samantha is very involved in community music making, volunteering for charities such as Melody Music, Gloucester Academy of Music, Turtle key Arts and Nottingham Music Hub.

 

This Lunchtime concert will be a collection of Samantha’s folk and classical favourites that are lively and impactful and showcase the range and passion a saxophone can create.
