Claire Horáček - viola da gamba
Simon Pickard - Harpsichord
Claire Horáček has lived in Barbourne since 1994 when she moved to Worcester to teach Art at the King's School. In 2017 she was awarded a Master of Music degree in performance on the viola da gamba with distinction, studying with Elizabeth Kenny and Jonathan Manson at Southampton University. She did her first degree in Fine Art at Oxford University but spent a good deal of time there playing the 'cello and furthering her love of early music and interest in historical performance practice. After 20 years teaching art and bringing up her family, she now combines working as a freelance performer on both baroque and renaissance viols, as well as, when time allows, painting. She runs early music groups at the Elgar School of Music in Worcester and teaches art at St George's CE Primary School. She was the artist/teacher responsible for the Creation frieze which you can see hanging above the altar in the church today!
Simon Pickard is a multi instrumentalist who studied English at Cambridge University. He has recently completed a MMus at Birmingham University combining his love of music and history.
